pdf files print garbled text

When I try printing pdf files from Acrobat Reader the text looks fine on the screen but some of the text looks garbled after printing. I have tried printing on two seperate printers and get the same result. I have tried downloading the latest printer drivers for both printers and still having the problem. It almost appears that the version of Acrobat I have is corrupted or it is having a problem with Vista. Any ideas?

First thing to check is the Fonts properties. Open the Document Properties (Command/CTRL + D) and click Fonts. Look over the list and make sure that all fonts are embedded and subsetted. Most likely you have a font embedding problem going on.

If you can't recreate the PDF with embedding all fonts, as a last resort you can print the PDF as an Image. Click Advanced and check the box for Print as Image.
