.pdf Forms Print Red instead of Black

Interestingly, when I print certain forms using Adobe Professional 8.0 for Mac using an HP 2550L Color Laserjet printer.... the entire document prints in red, EXCEPT for the information that I have typed into the form. Any thoughts or suggestions?!

Thank you,

Brandon W.

How doe the form print on other color printers?

Check the color profiles being used

Apply the update for Acrobat 8.

I am afraid that I don't have another color printer to check it against. However, this has happened with two other forms from two different sources.

I have applied the Acrobat Updates, but I will check again.

I am afraid that I don't know what color settings I should check. I have looked at them all and tried some different combinations, without success. Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem printing from an Intel Mac (10.4.10) using Adobe reader 8.1.0, or Professional 8.0. Occurs printing to HP 2605. Changing the color settings doesn't help. I think it's a dead set bug, unless anyone else has any ideas?

Make sure you are using the "PCL" driver for the printer, also one can change the printer properties on Acrobat's/Reader's Pirint screen to print grey scale.

Hi gkaiseril, I'm not sure what a PCL driver is, but I've installed the current recommended driver software from HP. The problem does NOT occur when I print the same pdf in Acrobat 7. It DOES occur when I print the pdf document on a PowerPC using a different HP printer, making me think it's a Acrobat 8 (Reader and professional) bug.

I am having the same problem. I've had it on a PowerBook G4--and now on my MacBook Pro--using Acrobat Professional 8 and printing to an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn. I get a red overlay on any graphic. For what it is worth, the first time I printed from Acrobat with the MacBook Pro, everything was fine. The second time, the red showed up. It was as if something had been automatically re-set--though what that would be I have no idea.

"This works. Click on the print icon. Click on "advanced". Select "output". Check the box "print as image". I suggest to leave it at 300 dpi, otherwise it might take a long time. It will print properly. You can also save it as a named custom set to make this persistent. For now this is an acceptable workaround. Other settings such as changing to postscript level 2 or setting the color management to "same as source" will not help. Please note I have submitted this problem to HP as case 3217438001, but after it was sent to hp mac support there has been no further response."

I got through to Adobe support on this. They also suggested the "Print as image" workaround, which worked for me (Acrobat Pro 8, OSX 10.4.10, HP2605dn).
In addition, they suggested changing the color profile to "US Uncoated sheetfed v2", which also worked for me.

In the print window you'll find an advanced button at the bottom, clicking this will give you the option of selecting "Discolored background correction"

Checking this will solve this issue.

I spent a long time looking for this solution, and its great to have found it.
