Print Color as Black - Beaten to death

I know this topic has been beaten into a fine paste, but none of the anwsers I have seen work. Some of my users need to print color as black to a black and white laser in Reader or Standard 8. I've tried everything I could find to make this happen but nothing works. I've tried using change the color of text and line art to black under the Edit -> Preferences -> Accessibility tab. I've tried changing the color profile under the Advanced Printing Tab which isn't even an option with these printers. I've even tried doing a jig and trowing a dash of salt over my left shoulder. Why was that handy little check box removed from Reader and Standard in 8?

My Product Information:
Reader 8.1.2, Windows

This option is is still available in Acrobat 8 Pro. at the botton of the Print menu. It's disabled when you use the print as image option in the "advanced print" dialog but otherwise it's on.

Thanks, but this isn't quite what I mean. I know it's still available in Professional, but I need to print color as black from Reader and Standard where there isn't even a greyed out option for that.

I don't believe this capability was ever in Reader or Standard -- are you sure you've seen it in the other products?
