Print Flattening in Acro Pro 8

In Acrobat 7 Pro I would send a 26 page PDF to the printer and tell it to print 20 copies. It would flatten once and print 20 copies. Now in Acrobat 8 Pro it will sit there and flatten the PDF for every copy it is printing. I even went in and set all the flattening options in the menus. My progress bar still spools 20 seperate copies. If I need to print a PDF 100 copies it will take forever to wait on the progress bar to finish. I never had this problem in Acrobat 7.

OK, here is a follow up......Still need help.

I have tried to print 20 copies of my original InDesign CS3 document from insode InDesign and it prints fine, only flattens once, then sends to printer.

But Acrobat 8 Pro still wants to flatten each of the 20 copies before it sends to the printer. I am printing to a Canon Imagerunner Color 3380. I have updated all the drivers and still it will take forever. It did not do this a couple days ago.

I have solved my problem.

After uninstalling Acrobat 8.1 Pro, re-installing Acrobat 7 Pro, and then re-installing Acrobat 8.0 Pro my PDF's print fine. It seems that the 8.1 update is the root of my problems. I have deselected the auto update feature and WILL NOT update to 8.1!

I have read ALOT of posts on many message boards that say the 8.1 update is one of the worst things Adobe has done and I have to agree.

I hope this helps anyone having PDF printing issues with 8.1
