some times i am not sure if i printed a pdf document and i would like
to check from my desk to see if it was printed rather than wasting
a lot of time walking to printer, is this possible like it is in microsoft word

No, nothing like that that I have ever seen. You may have to look at the printer queue logs.

You can set your printer to print a banner page before your output, this is done through you computer's control panel.

A PDF doesn't record "last printed date" in the way Office documents do, and Acrobat/Reader doesn't audit actions to a log file. As Matt says, your printer driver may write logs, but that's your only chance.

If you want that data in a PDF, you could create a custom metadata field and update that value through the did print action, but this would require one to save the PDF after each print. Other options that are more complex could include using an database or subscribed global variable.
