Here’s a puzzle.
The same PDF file - a test file with greyscale, RGB and CMY.
From Acrobat Reader 7 and Mac OSX (10.4.9) Preview applications the colour patches print fully saturated.
In Acrobat Reader 8 the magenta and yellow patches print slightly lighter, with less saturation - as do the RGB patches.
The original file (from Adobe CS 3.0.1) also prints with full saturation - as does as a Word test file and from Photoshop CS2.
All print settings are the same and exclude colour management and do not use CMYK colour spaces.
Now, why would this be so ?
This would seem to suggest that Acrobat 8 hands-off colours to the printer driver differently from other applications.
It would be nice to make it print the same as other applications.
Any ideas ?
Can Adobe fix this ?

Adobe Reader and Acrobat 8 does handle colour management in a different way to previous versions. Have you tried adjusting within the 'Advanced' section of the Reader print menu? In addition, Acrobat Professional has more advanced ways to tune your colour - maybe worth looking in there also?
All the best,

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999
