Printing linked documents

We are using Acrobat 8.0 Professional and am wondering if Version 9.0 would help with what seems like a common PDF management situation.

Our QA department uses 80 different forms. We manufacture approx 20 categories of product, each requiring a “QA packet”. QA packets vary, using a different “grouping” of forms from these 80, including multiple

copies of the same form.

I cannot create a pdf for each category, because the forms get revised and I don’t want to have to revise each pdf each time a form changes.

In a perfect world, I could list and link the current forms in a spreadsheet, and the number of copies needed in the next cell, then push the magic “PRINT” button and the correct number of linked forms would print.

Setting up a COLLECTION for each category in Acrobat 8.0 Pro is close to perfect, because it's a link that goes to the master folder and guarantees we are using the latest form revision. However, I need multiple copies of some forms but I can only put the link into the collection once.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

well, there is nothing preventing you from using your "spreadsheet metaphor" solution with a bit of scripting to call on Acrobat to do the printing. that will work just fine with any version of Acrobat since 5.0.
