when I try to print a PDF it spools to a massive file and takes ages to print. EG 726kb file spooling to over 70MB!

Reader 7.0.0, Windows

The file is 21 pages, no pictures just text. Adobe v7 and V8.1.0. are being used. Tried it on both HP Officejet K550 and HP Laserjet 2200. Also, it makes no difference if I print through Terminal Server of on the local machine.
