Hi,
my task is to protect a pdf document that is generated within an SAP system. The main focus is a SAP function module called "convert_otf", where an otf data stream is converted into pdf data. As I dont expect you to be SAP experts, my question therefore is: what parameter is set in the pdf document (probably header or elsewhere) that prevents printing of the document? Is there such a parameter at all or is the structure of a protected pdf different? All comments are very welcome, as I am stuck in this for a while now ;)
Regards, Michael
Security to disallow printing can be set manually or automatically on PDFs using Acrobat on the desktop. To set security automatically, you can use a batch sequence within Acrobat.
Go to Advanced -> Document Processing -> Batch Processing, select "Set Security to No Changes" and click the Edit Sequence button. Highlight the Security option in the right side panel and click the Edit button in the middle section of the dialog. Change and set the security options that you want. Also, there are folder location options as well.
To run the Batch Process go back to Advanced -> Batch Processing and this time choose Run A Sequence and follow the prompts. If you're interested in securing PDFs as part of a server-based process, I would recommend reviewing information on Livecycle Rights Management at:

Hope this helps,
