Hi. I'm trying to make a PDF from a Quark 6.5 (Mac) page that has color and black text. Export > Page as PDF... won't work. It tells me that it can't make the PDF. So I'm trying to save an eps that I can Distill. Problem is the blacks keep separating into every channel. I want the blacks on the K plate only. Does anyone know the trick here?

If you can Distill, you have Distiller.
If you have Distiller you can use the "AdobePDF" virtual printer to create PDFs (File menu > Print).Otherwise on Mac OS X.4, you can use the "Save as PDF/X" Apple PDF-service (or create your own).

What is the exact error message you get when you try to export as PDF?

Usually nether XPress nor Acrobat converts a pure black text to rich black. Have you double checked the used color in XPress and your Distiller settings?

Can it be that your colour space in the export dialog is not CMYK or DeviceN?

If you have Distiller installed, why do you generate your PDF using the AdobePDF printer driver?
