Quark pdf problem

I recently switched to an Intel MacBook, running Quark 7.3 with Acrobat 8. I do book design and layout. I have always made pdfs by printing to a postscript file and distilling in Distiller. With the new setup I'm having problems. When I try to distill the postscript file I get errors and no pdf. I realized that if I de-select cropmarks in Quark and make a postscript file, I CAN get a pdf. But I need cropmarks.

Any ideas?
