We are using the ocx to do some automatic printing and when we loaded version 8 it opens up reader and does the print is there a way to supress Reader from coming up? Is there a way to close reader as well.

It depends on what you mean by OCX. I imagine that you are talking about the Reader OCX for the browser, as opposed to the IAC ActiveX interface. And that you are using it by specifying the Class ID. So the answer is no. You can't do silent printing from the OCX. It's intended specifically for displaying PDFs, not for general access to Acrobat Functionality.

On the other hand, if you use the IAC you can do silent printing, and lots of other things without displaying Acrobat, althought it is running in the background.
