Reader vrs 9 now wants to print in color when pdf is black

My problem started a few weeks ago, possibly after an update. On my screen the words are all in black and white, but when I print it, it is in a shade of green usually. I have stopped this by setting my advanced preferences to Black only, but then it defaults to the green again when I print the next day. I wasn't doing this before, and I don't want to set my printer to black only, since I want to print some things is color.
I have read several posts that seem to have a similar problem, but nothing exactly like mine. Did a recent update make this color printing change?

Reader 9.3, Windows

Are you referring to the Advanced menu in Reader that says "Let printer determine the color"? Reader doesn't have a "Black only" menu item -- Std and Pro. do.

No, I am referring to the advance tab under printing, which is for my specific printer I assume, since I can access the same screens from control panel/printers.
When it prints in these strange, usually green colors, they are also all wavy and blurred lines. When I have it print black ink only, it prints perfect. This even happens on pdfs I have made, which I know had no imbedded color to them.
