Reader X - manual duplex (double sided) printing does not work

In my printer properties on the print window I select manual duplex (print both sides) but then when I click Print, Reader X doesn't seem to recognise that option. It just tries to print every page (single sided).

What it needs to do is print the odd pages and then pause to allow me to re-insert the pages.

I try to do it another way by telling it to print all odd pages first and then all even... but then I get confused whether I have to select 'reverse pages'... and why should I have to work this all out myself?

It doesn't sound like your printer is able to print duplex -- especially if you are selecting manual duplex in your printer properties. Duplex printing is a feature of your printer not Acrobat. What type of printer are you using?
What you can try is to turn off anything related to duplex in your printer properties. Then in Reader, use the Subset dropdown in the Print Range section. First, print all the even pages. Next, reload the pages so the blank pages will print and print the odd pages. The Reverse page checkbox is convenient if your printer delivers its pages face-up; the stack of output ends up in correct order.
