Same PDF - Different printers print different formatting.

This question might have been asked and answered in a previous post. If so feel free to provide a link to follow and I would be happy to jump to that thread. Here is my issue.

I have a client who uses Acrobat 9 Pro and Apple Preview to open PDF files. When this client prints the same PDF file from Acrobat and also from Preview they get different results. The fonts seem smaller when printed from Acrobat than Preview. Also, if that same document is printed from Acrobat on two different printers the font size varies once again.

Is there a setting I missed that helps keep PDF files printing consistent from one application to another? I might need to provide you more information to answer this question - let me know.

Thanks,
Brent

The imprint to a sheet of paper is a function of the printer metrics applied.
Acrobat is not applying these; rather Preview, printer1, printer2 are - each providing its own printer metrics.
For example, the space alotted to a given glyph is different for each.
Result: Imprint to the paper sheet can display visible differences.
