Text Boxes Disappear After Close Print Window

I'm running Acrobat Professional 7.0.8 on Windows XP (our PCs have just been upgraded to the these versions of Acrobat & Windows). When I open a pdf that has text boxes (text boxes added via the drawing mark-up tool), I can see the text in them. When I go to print the file, the text boxes will print. However, after the print dialog closes, the text boxes disappear. They will also no longer print. The stamps and lines on the drawing, however, do still show on the screen and also print. When I close the file and reopen, the text boxes have reappeared. If, after the text boxes have disappeared, you save the file, the text boxes are removed from the pdf (they no longer appear when you reopen the file). If I open the file and open the print dialog, but then close the print window without printing, the text boxes will still disappear. This problem is not limited to my PC--all computers that I've tried on site are exhibiting the same issue. How can I stop the text boxes from disappearing?

Select the text field, right click and open the properties. Examine the General settings under Common properties and make sure the form field is not set to visible but doesn't print.

Make sure there are no javascript actions in the page properties or document that resets the fields to a hidden state.

The available tabs for the text box properties are Appearance, General, and Review History. None of these has settings for Common properties or form fields. The document in question is not a form. It is an autocad drawing that was output to a pdf file. Text box comments were then added and it is these text boxes that disappear when the print dialog window closes.
There are no javascript actions associated with the document.
