TouchUp tool question

I can use my touchup tool to open my object in illustrator, but when I close it out of illustrator to save I get an error message unknown error has occured. Has anyone had this same problem, I have gone thru my illustrator preferences with a coworker who can do this. Our settings are the same so it must be something else.
I can use the edit image for photoshop with no problems, I don't understand. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I used to have this same issue on an old machine - what version of Acrobat and what version of Illustrator ?

upgrade to 8.1.1 (?)

#1571809 Corrupt updater preferences will cause Reader 8.1 or Acrobat 8.1 to crash when attempting to check for updates. An older updater library (AdobeUpdater.dll) was not properly deleting corrupted preference files in certain instances. Applies only to Windows, not Mac OS versions.
Root: fixes issue in version 8.1, not present in earlier versions.


try this -- Close Acrobat, delete your Acrobat user prefs file - restrat acrobat - you will have to re-select Acrobat touchup tool (of course)
