What is the correct profile for preflight just True Type fonts. I duplicated PDF/X-1a profile made some changes in the Fonts section to flag True Type fonts but it is actually flagging every font in the PDF. Can anyone advise me please?

Why would you want to do this? What is wrong with Truetype fonts that you need to flag them?

As far as I know I shouldn't be using True Type fonts or Multiple Master Fonts for HiRes printing. I had some printing issues in the past with True Type fonts.

Whoever told you that is clueless!

TrueType fonts have been supported by Postscript since Level 2 (1991) and PDF since version 1.0 (1993).

So any printer that can't print your PDF documents with TrueType fonts is using VERY VERY OLD equipment and I would RUN VERY QUICKLY to find someone else.

So is it OK to use True Type fonts as long as I send a PDF instead of Quark document to the printer?

Sending original files has problems of its own - whether from Quark, InDesign, etc.

Yes, ALWAYS send PDF!
