I have a pdf (several actually) the look on screen identical to the native file which is what I expect (INDCS3/MAC). When I print out the pages, the footer on the left-hand pages- which contain the folio and some text only print partially. 8 letters of a word just vanish, but the space they occupy is blank. In the template, this element resides on the master page.
So far I have tried the following:
-moved the element off the master, to the actual page
-recreated the pdf in higher resolution
-retyped the text on the master page
The templates were created from actual files from a previous issue of the magazine. This never happened in the previous version. My client is freaking out because they think this will happen with the files at the printer.
I'd be happy to send you a file so you can see this for yourself.
perhaps - type set to overprint, font missing or not embedded, did you make this into a PDF/X1a ?
