I'm using Acrobat 8.1 on Windows XP Pro. The computer in question is a wireless network connection to a HP G85 OfficeJet printer. I can print from Acrobat 8.1 wirelessly to my printer, but when I try to create a pdf using my scanner, the scanner is not available in the drop down box. The host computer does has the scanner listed. How do I get a listing in the drop down box for the remote computer?

Can you laptop see the scanner device?
Have you installed the HP Jet Direct?
Have you installed HP's TWAIN drivers on the laptop?
Does the scanner work through the HP "Director"?

1.I can print from the guest laptop.
2. The guest laptop does not see the scanner - it is not listed in the drop down box.
3. I have not installed HP Jet Direct. The host computer is connect to the HP G85 with a USB/Parallel cable and the the host laptop is connect to with an ethernet cable to the wireless modem.
3. HP Director is not installed on the guest laptop. When I run the installation CD on the guest laptop and select network as the connection method, the software cannot find the HP G85. However, I can still print from the guest laptop to HP G85 and the HP G85 does show up under Network Places belonging to the Host laptop..

Does the laptop not Acrobat see the scanner as a device?
If your laptop does not see the scanner Adobe neve will. This just like attaching a camera to your laptop wirelessly.
If you laptop does not see the Scanner device, you should contact HP.

Well, maybe I should ask this question. Can I connect wirelessly to the HP G85 OfficeJet without a HP PrintServer to use scanning functions? I can print wirelessly without the HP PrintServer but what about scanning?

Acrobat requires a TWAIN scanner interface.
