Hi there,

I have a pdf with an embedded flash file which would player on my computer while i had the demo version of Acrobat Pro 9.1 installed.

I installed Acrobat Design Premium CS4 (including Acrobat Pro) and now the swf doesn't play. Instead i get the following error message:

"The PDF file contains media that requires an additional player. Please click 'Get Media Player' to download the correct media player. To play the media, you will need to close and restart the application once the player installation is complete."

When i select "Get Media Player" it takes me to a website with the following message "We're sorry, but the third-party media player required to play the selected media file in your Adobe PDF document isn't available for your system. No media player will be downloaded at this time."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled:
* Design Premium CS4
* Adobe Flash Player (latest version)

I've installed all the latest updates... but coming to my wit's end.

The file plays fine on other computers. However i note this difference: In acrobat (both pro and reader), under Edit > Preferences > Multimedia (legacy) > Preferred Media Player, i don't have an option saying Adobe Flash Player. Other computers i use which play the file, this list includes Adobe Flash Player. Uninstalling and reinstalling flash player does not change this.

Any suggestions?

Geoff

I found a solution to this problem - need to install flash using internet explorer.

The firefox flash install only installs the flashplayer in firefox, whereas the internet explorer flash install also installs the flash player in internet explorer *and* adobe acrobat.

Seems like a strange inconsistency...
