How to make movies repeat

Hi all,

I'm having a little trouble with getting my movie's to repeat/loop in Acrobat 8.

I've used the .wmv format, and most recently Flash video as a test bed for inserting video into Acrobat PDF's.

I've located the 'repeat' check box for the movie elements through advanced editing. But this does not work. I've tried setting the movies to play continuously and even for a set number of times. But they never play more than once.

Has anybody had a similiar problem and care to share any insight?

Thanks :)

Note: i did get the movie to repeat continuously when i used Quicktime, however i'm not finding the quality/size ratio in Quicktime to be as good as when using .wmv, and i'm worried about users who don't have quicktime installed. is there a way to get the movies to repeat even if i'm usng .wmv?

Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Hi --

You might be trying to use a media file that was designed to play once and stop. If you have access to the source content, check how its playback is defined.

Whilst exporting both Flash and .wmv movies, i've tried to make sure i activate any options for encoding them with the ability to loop/repeat.

Have you tried getting a .wmv to loop in Acrobat? I'd really love to see it work as now that i'm using the .h264 codec from Quicktime, my movie loops, but my end users have to download and install quicktime which isn't always feasable under non-adminstrative network rights.

Hello Everyone,

I happen to stumble on the same need as Minkyminky. I created an AVI file of a small animated graphic on a webpage using an older version of Snagit. Then I added it to my PDF document. I am also using Acrobat 8 Professional. In order to keep the media file and ultimately the PDF file small, it would be best to loop the AVI instead of create a big AVI file of the repeating animation. The goal is to have the movie start and loop while you are on/viewing the page. If it is necessary, the AVI file can be converted to achieve the result. I have yet to find a way to embed looping in the AVI file itself and so far have be unsuccessful.

I am hoping someone out there has successfully done this.

Thanks,

Okay, I looked back into MinkyMinky's previous post and found the repeat-continuous option. It does continuously loops upon clicking it with the pointer. I did also create a button as a workaround for users. But, ideally, I need to initiate the movie when the document opens.

MinkyMinky, are you trying to do the same thing? It also seems your loop continuously option is not working with WMV file. I'll convert my AVI to a WMV and see if I can get it to loop continuously like my AVI. While I am working on that, hopefully someone might be able to reply on initiating the movie upon opening of the document.

Thanks,
