Hi
I am a newbie so please pardon me if this is a dumb question.
I generated a pdf file (Acrobat v8 professional) from MS Word. The Word doc has a hyperlink to a wmv file (plays in Media player). I then upload this pdf file (and associated wmv file) to our web server, which has an interface that allows users to access this pdf file.
When I open the pdf file on the web server, it opens the PDF file in a HTML window (IE v6) - like it is supposed to. When I click on the link to the wmv file (in the pdf doc) - it launches Media player (like it is supposed to), but closes the original IE window (with the pdf doc) This means that any time an animation file is viewed, the source pdf is closed, and then the user has to go back all the way to our web interface to re-open the pdf.
This only happens when I access the web version of the pdf from the PC that has Acrobat v8 installed. I have another PC with Acrobat v5 installed, and it behaves corectly (launches Media player in a separate window - leaving the original IE window with pdf untouched) - which tells me (?) that the pdf file itself is okay - but some setting in acrobat 8 on my PC is not correct.
Also, when I open the same pdf on my local machine with v8, the media player window starts as a new window (leaves my source pdf file untouched - there are no IE windows to worry about since it is on a local machine) - which leads me to believe that the problem lies in how acrobat 8 (opened in IE window) decides whether to pop up a new window or show the data in same window).
Can someonel please help me to figure out how to force the media player to open in a new (IE) window like it does for older versions of Acrobat ?
Thanks
Iopened the pdf file (web version as explained above). Then for kicks I licked on File->new window, so that there was a duplciate instance of teh same (web version) pdf report. When I clcik on teh movie link in the duplicate window - it spawns Media player as a floating window, and does not close the source IE (pdf) window). Any thoughts ?
