I thought of creating a pdf file that plays an embedded flash movie if the reader being used is reader /acrobat 9, else (with earlier versions of reader) just shows an image. I could not figure out whether it can be done in acrobat 9 pro extended. Thanks in advance for any ideas..

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0, Windows

Hi gemmi,

Yes, this can be done. Below is a link to a video here at AUC that goes over the different steps on adding the video and putting in a poster image for that will show if viewed in earlier versions of Adobe Reader.

http://www.acrobatusers.com/learning_center/videos?title=&tid=8&form_build_id=form-c896eaa080807f4e2f7bcdd7ed748546&form_token=53ab120a66b2d6dfa2049a3143cd4b58&form_id=views_exposed_formEdit-Guess that link only goes to the video page- the one I am talking about is called "Adding Multimedia to Your PDF Document."

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

gemmi,
Janet Frick's video tutorial
http://www.acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2008/06/a9video_adding_multimedia
is, I believe, the one Dimitri refers to.

n.b., When you click the "close" button, upon completion of the video,
you land at a "Page not found" page. Just click your browser's back button to return
to the video's page in the Tutorials section.
