inserting video in Acrobat 9 Extended

1. When I try to insert a mpg video to a PDF file using Acrobat 9 Extended, I get the audio portion but not the video.

2. When I try to insert a video clip to Powerpoint with "Insert movie from file and convert to Flash Video Format," I receive this error message:

"Could not find flash player activeX control. Please install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer."

Would be grateful for any thoughts or suggestions. (I am using Windows XP and Microsoft office 2003.)

Thanks, Grant

Convert your video to AVI, then retry, or insert an avi (or mpg) video clip into a PDF by using Tools > Advanced Editing > Movie Tool.

#1 Does the video play back properly on your PC in Windows Media player? Also, is the file being converted to Flash (if so there will be a "transcoding" progress bar after pressing OK before the file is embedded (and when you selected the video there was NO check box available under the file name for "Maintain original H.264 encoding")? Is the file sensitive or can we try it out (send via email)? Sometimes the audio or video portion encoding is not compatible with the transcoder (converts the video to Flash using Quicktime codecs and other codecs available on the system).

#2 For the issue with Powerpoint you just need to launch Internet Explorer (not firefox or any other browser) and search for Flash and install Flash from Adobe.com which will install the ActiveX control for Internet Explorer. After you do that it should work (may need to exit out of and re-launch both Powerpoint and Acrobat).
