Problems with my G5 Mac...won't play Adobe Acrobat Tutorial Videos

Hi,

I just upgraded from Version 8 of Acrobat Pro to have a better experience in making forms for distribution on my mac. I don't know if it matters but I am using OS X 10.5.x - the latest iteration.

Previously I had avoided upgrading to the latest versions of Adobe Flash as my computer seemed to crash a lot with it installed. Yes, I am aware of all of the controversy. Yet I was persuaded to upgrade to the latest versions and now movies that used to play on my mac, before upgrading, no longer play. I am referring to movies on the internet, including those movies featured in Adobe's online tutorials. The movies won't play.

So, I am wondering if it is at all possible for me to go back to whatever version of Flash was available before all of this crashing started? I just don't have the time or patience to try to sort it all out....I did it once before and it took me the better part of a week to sort things out and determine what the culprit is/was....and then figure out again which previous version worked. Geez I really don't want to have to do that again.

If anyone here knows that and would be willing to share I would surely appreciate the information.

Best Regards and thank you,

Patrick

What version of Flash are you using? There was an error in Apple's recent OS update that included an outdated version by mistake.

Visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to check yours; you should be using 10,1,53,64

Older versions are not made available through Adobe.com.

btw - although Acrobat includes an embedded copy of Flash Player, that copy is only used within the application to play elements of the PDF; so has no bearing on playback in web pages etc.

Ah...I see. Thank you for your reply.

What is it that plays the videos, then, on Adobe's web site? Is it a plugin?

I REALLY want to make this work so that I can say Adobe works for me.....

And, I noticed, just a few moments ago, that another site played a video for me using Adobe software...so now I am confused. If it is not the software that is preventing me from viewing the tutorial videos on Adobe's web site, what could it be? Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

Hello again,

here is the message that appears as an overlay on the web page when I try to open a tutorial video. Still haven't been able to open video. I am, by the way, using Safari as my browser.

Aha! Thank you for posting this!! I can't tell you how much the status of my mental health is going to improve as a result of knowing that it isn't me, or my mac computer, but I can tell you my wife is moving back in, so the appreciation is enormous and heartfelt.

Best Regards,

Patrick
