Hi friends,
I am a Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 user. I want to prepare a pdf file with video media. Which types of video is supported by this application? (mov, wmv?)
And i also want to ask about does any activex or other application needed for displaying pdfs with multimedia? (May be Quicktime must be installed for displaying pdfs with mov files?)
Thanks in advance.
Now, how to see what types you can add in Acrobat 7 on your system, if you activate the "movie tool" the file type drop down list will have the player types listed that you have installed and a list of the supported extensions (mostly, some of the list may be cut off). Remember that the person who will view your PDF will also need the player installed so you will ideally choose a file type that most users have the player installed to view (there are also issues with codecs but I won't go into it now, there are no guarantees that the viewer will have the right codecs installed for the media player to view your video file).
The quick answer to types is Quicktime, Windows Media Player, Windows built in player, and Real Media player files. The quick answer to what the viewer needs to display is whatever player plays back the type of video added.
One note to add: The great thing about Multimedia in Acrobat 9 is that there is no requirement on external players either for the author (Quicktime is required for the author when using Acrobat Pro Extended) or the viewer, Acrobat/Reader will play all embedded Richmedia (new Multimedia annotation type in Acrobat 9) without requiring anything installed on the viewers system.
