Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.3 Not Allowing Signing

Hi Everybody,

I am just wondering if someone could help me?

I have created a form, that, once submitted attaches itself to an email.

When I view the form in LiveCycle Designer ES > Preview PDF - all is well, form works fantastically.

Now, When I view it in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, this too also works fine.

The problem i'm having is; I sent this to my boss for approval, but he uses Adobe Reader 8.1.3. Once, the form is opened a warning message appear, saying "You cannot save a copy of this form on your computer. If you would like to save a copy for your records, please fill in and print it". If this message is ignored and the form is filled out, once submitted, it returns the error message "Since this document doesn't allow changes to be save, any changes you have made will not be included when the document is mailed. Do you want to continue?". This is my problem.

I have done some research into this, and have noticed that when the document is view in a newer version, i.e. acrobat version 9 pro extended, in the form properties window, it shows signing: allowed. However in version 8.1.3 it says signing: not allowed.

Im unsure how I can change it from signing: not allowed to signing: allowed?

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance

James

Digital Signature rights are required. Extended Reader Form Rights do not inlcude this. Adobe has the LiveCycle ES server product to extend forms to accept signatures.

I phoned Adobe UK support today, it took 1hr 45mins to establish an answer (poor customer service), but the end result was successful.

The way I solved my problem was; open the form inside Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended then click Advanced > Extended Features in Adobe Reader then allow the set up wizard to set up his magic and thats it! Simple as that!Hope this helps anyone else reading, I found little info crawling the net for this!

Are you talking about saving the data or applying an Adobe Digit ID signature to a signature field?

Using a digital ID to provide a signature field that can be verfied and used legally is differnt then just form fields.

It worked.. thanks. I was having problem with the TOPAZ signature reader. When I was saving the pdfs the signing: not allowed was set, Extended Features in Adobe Reader resetted the permissions to allowed.
