Attachment Security Settings

I have many PDFs that have been converted from MS Outlook emails. Some of these PDFs have attachments.

I can open and save all attachment file types EXCEPT .zip, .sit, and, .hqx files. When I try to save such a file, an error message pops up stating "Acrobat cannot save the file attachment 'filename.sit' because your security settings do not allow this file type to be saved."

There are no security restrictions on the PDF itself, so what security settings is it referencing? How can I overcome this limitation?

Those file types are on the Acrobat "black list" of potentially problematic file types. You would need to modify your Windows registry or Mac .plist to remove those types from the list.

OR upgrade to Acrobat 8 which has a better method for handling these types.

I get the same error on Ver 8.0, but works well with Ver 6.0. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I'd like to know more about Acrobat 8's better way of handling "black list" types. I've been struggling to open an attached ZIP file for some time now. I have Acrobat 3D 8.1.1.

dear ccs717,

you must edit trust settings to open attached zir/rar/exe etc. files. but you can only do this by registry editing. on the link below there is a solution for it. there are 2 reg files in zipped file. one of them allows you to open attachments other restores default settings for it.

I hope that it will helps.
