Can document open passwords be case insensitive

I know in 99% of cases passwords cannot be case insensitive, but someone in our office claims that he remembers doing it in prior versions of Acrobat.

Can someone please confirm that document open passwords(used to open a PDF document) are case sensitive meaning if a password is chosen as "abcdef" it needs to be entered as "abcdef" while opening it. Variations in case like "Abcdef", aBCdef" and so on would not be accepted.

No, that's never been possible with Acrobat.
