Can't remove security password

I send out a pdf package containing several documents and password protect it. When my end-users try to save it without a password (they know the password), they get a message of 'document could not be saved - bad parameter'. The document does end up saving, however, the password security is still engaged. Any ideas on how to fix? Thank you. p.s. - would it have anything to do with the fact that I am using version 8.0 and they are using version 6.0? I do save the document with settings as acrobat 5.0 and later.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.0

It probably is the problem that Acrobat 6 doesn't support PDF Package encryption.

No that is not the answer. When I had version 6.0, I was able to password protect the document and people were able to save the document without the password after they opened it with the password.

Does the error still occur if you try the following:
Edit--> Preferences--> Security and uncheck "Verify signatures when the document is opened"

No that does not work either. It did work at first. I saved it to my desktop and opened it up without the password. I added some sticky notes, etc., saved again. When opened 2nd time, it prompted me for the password.

Perhaps try this: Open the document you want to save w/o a password. In File > Properties > Security tab, change the security method from "Password Security" to "None" or "no security". Then save the file (may be necessary to save-as the file).

Can you be more specific about the name of the product you and the remorte user are using. You are obviously using Acrobat or better, but the the other may be using Reader which normally can can save a modified PDF. And if the other user has both Acrobat and Reader installed, one has to be very careful to get Acrobat running and not Reader.

Sure. Good point. Reader is not capable of changing the security settings of a document. You need to have Acrobat Standard or better.
