Can't sign document (no sig fields), can't create sig fields...options?

I have a document with the following restrictions:
 
Printing: A
Changing: NA
Assembly: NA
Content Copy/Extraction: A
Content Extraction for Accessibility: A
Commenting: A
Filling of form fields: A
Signing: A
Creation of template pages: A
 
It was created by Adobe XML Form Module Library
PDF Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)
   
We would like to sign the document but whatever generated the document didn't create any signable fields. Changing the way the document is generated is not an option at the moment (it's managed by a 3rd, or more likely 4th, party).
 
I'm looking for a process or steps to take this document and make it electronically signable....
 
any ideas?

What happens if you select: Document > Digital Signatures > Sign this Document...I'm assuming you're using Acrobat 7. In Acrobat 9, it would be: Advanced > Sign & Certify > Sign Document
