Hi!
I am using Adobe X and I am trying to create a document with an option "Encrypt all Document components except metadata" (it will be accesed by search engines)
So I add a password for opening in Secutiry tab and add my credentials in Description tab. The file is created properly but I can't fing it using Advenced Search when I am searching for the credentioals I entered.

It Says that the some files were skipped because they are corrupt or I don't have permission to open them.
My question is how can I search for this files and application am I to use?

Acrobat 10.0, Windows

Do these documents require an Open Password? If not, I would suggest putting in only a Permissions password and setting the desired changes allowed. Test this by going to:

File Properties
Click Security
Select Password Security
Don't turn on the Open Password, Check Restrict Editing and Printing of the Document
Then choose what level of protection you would like from the dropdown below.

Thanks Kelly! it worked for me with I use the permission password!:)

So, as I understand, option "Encrypt all document content except metadata" works only with Permission password?

And if a Password for opening is set on the document I will not be able to use Adobe's "Advanced Search" to look for files with metadata?

No, the options to leave the XMP metadata in plaintext apply to both "open" and "permissions" passwords. Try it yourself - encrypt a small PDF file and open it in a text editor, the XMP will be at the very end.

Thanks,I know that, and if I open it as plain text the metadata is there, but what I can't figure out what search should I use to find the files with specific metadata that I entered in Acrobat. Because if the file is protected by "open password" the Advanced Search in Acrobat says "Search has skipped 2 files because either these files are corrupt or you don't have permissions to open them" but the metadata is there and it can be opened properly.

You're talking about two different things. Your original post said "it will be accesed by search engines" - which means online tools such as GoogleBot. These will happily index the plaintext XMP data at the end of a file, even if the file itself cannot be opened.

The Advanced Search tool _in Acrobat_ is for searching the *content* of files, and therefore skips anything with encryption.
