Digital signature sets restrictions on a document....

I am running into a problem with a signed document with version 9. I am receiving a document created in version 7 or 8, and signed, which is then emailed to me. Previously when I opened the document using version 7 or 8, I was able to add documents to the attachment tab. Currently when I use version 9 to open the signed document created with version 7 or 8 and emailed to me, the attachment tab is disabled such that I can't add a document to it. The security policy restrictions show document assembly as not allowed. Is there any way to get around this function of the digital signature? Configuring the signature function such that it does not apply a restriction to document assembly would be ideal, is there a way to do that? The basic document is configured as a form, and the attachment window is used to add supporting documentation and reference material to create a complete package.

Changing the "embedded attached files" is considered an action that invalidates the signature so isn't allowed. You can get nearly the same effect by using a file attachment annotation (which is allowed if annotations are allowed). The file is still listed in the bottom pane.
