Hi There,
I have an archive and retrieval application that supports external digital signatures (as a seperate file).
I want to enhance it so that signatures can be embedded within the documents to make the whole process of verification more simple - the idea being that the signature can be verified within Acrobat.
Hs anyone had any experience in creating and embedding digital signatures that conform to EU regulations within Adobe PDFs?
Cheers,
John
I don't think you can. Add a signature to a PDF means you will change it, because you will add at least some info about the signature (Signature Dictionary and Form Field) to the document ant that means you are changing the document, making the old signature invalid.
Anyway, I'm not sure, but I think EU regulations use CaDES and XaDES, not PKCS#7 that is what is actually used in PDF signatures...
I am also interested on know more about the move of PDF on this patterns, because they are close of what we are going to have here in Brazil too.
