"FormCalc" broken on Reader 9.3

Enabling Javascript from the YMB breaks "FormCalc"

Create the problem:

1) Disable Javascript from the Preferences
2) Open a form that has a field using FormCalc to calculate
3) Enable Javascript from the Yellow bar.

Result: Calculations don't work after javascript is enabled.

No problem if:

Javascript is enabled in the preferences before the form is loaded. Fine in Reader 9.1 and 9.2.

First of all, I'm not sure why JS content is detected but it is and why FormCalc doesn't
work when JS is enabled via the YMB. I think it's a bug.

We have a policy to disable Javascript here so this is causing a problem on lots of forms.

Can you guy re-create the problem?
I have a very simple form but I see we can't attach files here...

Thank you
Super

Anybody? From Adobe?
Isn't this an important functionality?
I can't believe no one mentionned this as a serious problem.
I can't imagine no large Corporation deploys Reader with JavaScript disabled.
SHould I post this in another (not Security) forum?

This is a user to user forum, U2U.

Maybe you need to send instructions or have a note about how to configure Reader to enable JavaScirpt.

Many entities have disabled JavaScript by default in their installations because of some security risks.

Thanks for your reply. At least now I don't feel so left out ;)

I "am" the person (IT product Life cycle) that configures Reader for deployment (100,000 desktops).

And yes, we chose to disable JavaScript by default for security reasons. However, Reader 9 is designed to offer to turn Javascript back on (via the Yellow Message Bar) when Javascript content is detected. That part works fine. But when choosing "this time only" or "always" the forms still won't calculate fields that use "formCalc" as the script. It works ONLY IF javascript is ENABLED FROM THE USER PREFERENCES prior to loading the form.

Reader 8, 9.1, 9.2 are fine. Only 9.3 is behaving that way.

Anyways, I'm just re-explaining my previous post.

Obviously no one here has experienced this issue.

Thanks for your time

I see from your other forum post that you contacted Adobe and a bug has been logged against this issue. Thanks for following up on this.
