a client is asking me if I can use some sort of security to protect a pdf from being emailed. Anybody knows if that is possible? If so, how do I do it?

I am using acrobat pro 8.2.6

Thanks in advance.

No, you can't. While it's possible to restrict who can *open* a file (using certificate security or DRM) there is absolutely no way to prevent the file itself from being downloaded, copied, emailed, etc.

DRM is designed to handle these requirements.

As long as the file is useless on other un-authorized computers or users, emailing, copying, sharing or ... may not bother you at all.

Depending on your budget, licensing work-flow and scale you can go for:
Adobe Digital Editions, PDF OwnerGuard, FileOpen or other pdf drm packages available on the net
