Hi,

We have some pdf files in the server which are set to prevent from editing, printing, copying. But after we open the document, the “Attach to Email…”, “Save As…” are still enabled. If we don’t want the viewer to save a copy or send out as email, what can I set for the document?

I’ve checked everything from Property -> Summary ->Security… but I can’t find anything to be set to prevent the Attach to Email or Save As.

Please help.

You can't. Those actions are not considered "edits" of the PDF, therefore any user who has the file open on their computer can move it to another folder on disk (which is what "save as" does) or attach it to emails howsoever they wish. Even if they don't know the open password for a PDF they can still move the disk file about, copy it, or send it to a network via the operating system, and nothing a document says can change that.

We can consider the Save As or Attach as Email as an operating system level function, and Edit, Save or Print are document function. We only can secure the document function.
