I need to remove the security that was placed on mutiple files by myself. I am trying to merge some files together, but cannot find a way to remove the security from these files, unless I remove the security from then one by one.

If your password is the same for all your PDFs you can use a batch sequence to unsecure them. There is an example of this in the [url=http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/batch_sequences.pdf]Batch Sequences[/url] samples.
There is no method to remove security on multiple files at once in Acrobat. Even if you used a Batch Process and chose the No Security option, you would get a dialog asking for specific information for each individual file (such as the password). I think you are stuck with doing this on a file by file basis for now.
