Signature field

I have several forms created in Adoby 5.0.5. These forms have multiple signature fields. I have various users which use version 5.0.5, 7 and 8 of Adobe Acrobat to apply their digital signatures. Depending on who signs first, the form prematurely gets locked up preventing others from applying their signatures. Any help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Claude,

Is this digital signature a pre-existing form field? If so, it sounds like the form field properties are set to read-only after signing. Check the form field properties and then go to the Signed tab under the Digital Signature Field Properties menu to see what happens when a signature is placed on the document.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Thanks Lori for your response.

I wish I could attach the form in question.

The digital signature field, like the rest of the fillable form fields on the document in question were all created by me.

Out of six digital signature fields only the last signature fields has been set up with read-only capabilities. This field is not signed until the end of the year so in theory, nothing should be getting locked until a signature has been placed in this field.

All other signature fields were created using their default settings. No actions including nothing happening when the signature field is signed.

As previously mentioned these forms were created using Adobe 5.0.5. Haven't been able to convince my superiors to upgrade.....yet.

In reading some information on signature fields in newer versions of Adobe, there is a mention of having to set up an Adobe Policy Server. Might this have been an oversight in version 5.0.5 that would cause the problems I'm experiencing, thus the reason for this additional step in newer versions?

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Claude,

Are you using any of the certification features of Acrobat when you apply the digital signature? If so, this requires Acrobat 6 or higher.
