Signing a PDF such that each signature is on the same data (byte rang)

Hi Guys,

I have a friend who wants to digitally sign a PDF such that each signature made is based on the same data. Currently when I create a new signature, a new revision of the document is made and then an exclamation mark is shown for old signatures. This is probably because the document gets changed.

Is there any way or is it that Adobe simply has no way out for this and that each new signature created is based on the whole of the PDF including previous signatures as well and not a portion of it. I am using Adobe 8 and 9 both.

Regards,
Wahaj

Hi Wahaj,

If you upgraded to version 9, the exclamation point no longer displays when adding subsequent signatures. However, the underlying concept of each new signature signs the entire file still is in effect. Because the signature encompasses the whole file, it also includes the previous signature as part of the byte range.
