How to send a document for shared review

Patti SokolSeptember 7, 2012

Getting feedback on your documents from multiple colleagues can be a pain. Acrobat(R) XI automates the process of gathering feedback with shared document reviews. Here's a document that I want to send out to the team so that I can gather their feedback. The comment pane has everything I need.I'll click Send for Shared Review. I need to select where I'd like those comments to be stored. That could be on an internal, web, network or SharePoint server. Or I can use the online hosted service at Acrobat.com.I can select my reviewers directly from my address book. And I can even set a review deadline so I get my comments in a timely way. Once the review process is underway, I can see the comments directly on the page or in the comments list. And everyone on the team can see and build on each other's feedback, saving time with fewer emails and meetings. If I click Track Reviews, I can select the document and email all the reviewers a note, add additional reviewers, or even change the review deadline. With Acrobat XI sending a document out for shared review allows you to collect feedback in one place -- fast.

Hi Austin,

Just send a copy of the document to each reviewer as an Offline review. When each reviewer returns their comments, just import these into your online review copy - giving you one document containing everyone’s comments.

Hi Farid,

Unfortunately it is not possible to automate this function via the Acrobat SDK. Here is another discussion thread on the subject:

Thanks,

Is it possible to initiate a shared review automatically when a bunch of PDFs are uploaded to a pre-defined SharePoint folder? Assuming that the list of reviewers are same every time and are stored in some list and deadline is, say, 15 day from the date of upload.

Hi Austin,

There isn’t a way to do this in Acrobat but there may be some 3rd party tools that can control user access.

Thanks,
Lori

Hello!

Is there any way to make the comments available only to the initiator? I want to collect comments from several members of my team, but due to the sensitive nature of the document, would like to keep viewers from seeing each other’s comments.

Thanks,
Austin

Hi Rahul,

Shared Reviews have been available in Acrobat for many versions.

Thanks,
Lori
