Dear All (esp. Adobe gurus),

is there any information about the fate of the PRC spec?

It was removed from the Acrobat 3D Developer Center http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat3d/ without any reason given in public.

What is the "official" advice to ISVs - wait for the promised release of the spec,
use whatever spec you have dug out of Adobe site or the only supported way to make PRC models is through Acrobat?

Sincerely, Michail

You are right. Acrobat Pro Extended not incorporate Acrobat 3D. See Acrobat 9 Pro Extended resources . There is also a link to Previous version: Acrobat 3D Version 8: Acrobat 3D Version 8 resources.

Many users are caught in the gap from the release of a new product and the posting of the new documentaion.

The PDF Reference is available for 1.3 through 1.7.

If you go to the SDK for Acrobat 8 3D you will be blocked fromt the SDK documentatiom but there is a contact number there.

Dear George,

thank you for reply, but you have missed the point.

The 3-letter word starting with big P was PRC, not PDF.

3D PRC format (owned by Adobe) is referred to in PDF 1.7 reference,
but the URL given there (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat3d/)
no longer leads to the PRC spec.

The question was specific to this forum (unlike your answer :( ).

Sincerely, Michail
PS. Still waiting for any information on PRC.

Hi mvid,

I don't have an answer for you regarding when the revised PRC Spec will be out, but I can tell you that if you have not received an answer on the Adobe User to User forums ( from someone at Adobe- they do monitor that and post regularily) you won't likely get one here either.

I hope they publish it soon for you!

I am trying to single-handedly surround Adobe and make lots of noise - kind of Gideon tactics... :)
