Solid Edge conversion

I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I'm trying to find the best conversion from Solid Edge. I have tried the direct .ASM but on some complex models, it errors out. I've tried JT, STP and STL with success. However, one issue I'm having is with the model tree. On my PDF tree, each sub-assembly looks like this:

PDF Model Tree

Model
node
147453.asm
147453.asm
node
145828.prt
145828.prt
node
node

In my Solid Edge Model, my tree looks like this:

Model
147453.asm
145828.prt

Why all the duplicates and why all the "nodes" in the PDF tree? What format and options should I use to make the tree in the PDF look more like the tree in the model?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi,

i use Acrobat as well to open Solid Edge Files. As we use actually SE V100 the Files create an Error in Acrobat and 3D. Eve older V20 (that should open) create an Error.
But i found out that saving the Assembly File into Parasolid Format will do well for my purposes. The Part Tree is shown like in SE and Parts can be switched on and off to create new Views.
Hope that theres an Update soon to open ASM direct as this was my Goal....

I use Solid Edge v100 (ST) as well.
Are you aware of the 'capture 3D' function? It seems like a great way to get 3D data into Acrobat, but I have had some issues with it.
Open Acrobat, go to File > Create PDF > From 3D Capture...
Then, you're supposed to be able to just hit 'Print Screen' from within Solid Edge, and you can import to Acrobat directly.
My trouble, is the model imports small, and is practically 'hidden' in the coordinate origin (I can see it if perspective view is enabled, and I zoom in to the center of the yellow origin ball). Also, it looks terrible. I'm going to have to do some forum searching for a fix.
