Editing

I market printing to specialized fields and often receive pdf forms to be printed that I do not produce myself. Often my clients want me to edit their pdf's for them usually because pdf's are complicated to most novices. I can make minor changes, but when it comes to bolding fonts etc I run into problems. I would guess I would need to extract from the pdf back into the originating software. How do I know which software created the pdf? I have tried to extract to word etc but usually it ends of a mess and no
way I can send it to printer. I usually have to have a printer edit the pdf. Where should I start so that I can edit most pdf forms I receive from outside sources...

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8, Windows

Contact the client and ask them to send you a copy of the form in Rich Text or text. Visually examine the layout of their original PDF and make edits to the form in MS Word and convert to PDF. You can use the Snap Shot tool to capture any graphics or Snap Shot the entire form they provided.

Sorry for the response error. When you Snap Shot the entire form, it will NOT meet 508 accessibility standards. Snap Shot the graphics only. Save them in a compatible format. Open MS Word (after converting the PDF to MS Word) and insert the graphics in the same location as the originals. Save your work and set Distiller settings to meet the Job Options provided by your Printer. Convert to PDF and run a Full accessibility check in Acrobat. Make adjustments as necessary from the report. If this suggestion does not work, please re-post this question for another expert to answer.

When you snapshot the entire form that was provided, does it meet 508 accessibility standards? I have found when I have to convert documents that have been scanned, that the document turns out to be one big image that is not accessible by non-visual accessibility standards.
