Jaws 9 and 10 not reading dynamic pdf forms created in designer

The state agency I work for has mandatory requirement to make all pdfs accessible. We are creating static pdf using Adobe livecycle designer 8.2 and Jaws reads fine. In the accessibility panel, we give screen reader preference as "caption" and in the object panel, for caption, we give the field name. We make sure our tab order is set correct in the reading order. Life was good.

As soon as I made the forms expandable (dynamic), for field size to expand and be able to print, screen reader technology started acting funky.
In forms mode (press enter), jaws does not read the fields in set tab order. It jumps all over the form.

The same form worked fine with Screen reader in static mode.

I will really appreciate any help/direction in this topic. If you like to know how I made the forms dynamic, I will be happy to elaborate (learnt it from this forum).

Thanks a bunch

Priya

I do not believe that Jaws handles LiveCycle forms at all. The only reason it works for static forms is that static forms have a correctly rendered static PDF overlay. So Jaws isn't reading the XML form at all, it's reading the PDF overlay.

You'll need to contact Global Graphics for support on this issue. It doesn't have anything to do with Acrobat.

Thomp, thanks for your input.

Testing with Jaws 9.0.552U and Acrobat reader 8, the expandable pdf reading order is fine. The issue is with editing the expandable fields, jaws does not readout the selected text for editing in the expandable field in forms mode.

In Acrobat reader 9, the reading order itself is messed up with Jaws.

We spent a whole bunch of money, hoping Adobe would fix all our accessibility concerns, (marketed to us that way). I think we may need to contact Adobe team.

Thanks again,

Priya

I'm faced with the same problem. Priya did you ever found a solution to this?
