Hi,

I have a pdf with lots of vector images. While trying to convert this pdf to swf suning some swf tool. But the limitation of swf tool is only 65536 shapes. Because of this vector images the complete pdf is not converted to swf. Is there any way to convert vector images to raster in PDF?. I have acrobat 8 pro.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if I fully understand your workflow, but I know that you can export a page or pages to JPG, PNG, or TIFF from the FILE > EXPORT > IMAGE menu. These raster images can then be recombined into a PDF from which you may be able to convert to SWF...?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The pdf containing not only the vector images also the texts. So i cant export the pdf to image because i want the text for search purpose. The vector images are present in between the text area. Is there any possibilities to convert those vector images to raster using acrobat?.

Thanks,

Well, you could still export the pages to raster image files as mentioned before, and then attempt to run OCR on the new PDF pages once you reconvert them to recapture your text. This method is obviously time consuming, but depending upon your needs it may work. I'm not sure of any other method, although there could very well be something buried in the Preflight tools / dialog box.

Hi,

I tried the same (Export as Image and OCR). But the images are getting cut and the lines is not coming correctly. Is there any other possibilities to convert Vector to raster?

Thanks,

experiment with this: open a single page pdf with photoshop (or ps elements). ps will rasterize the page.

As Reid mentioned, Photoshop or Elements is about the only other possibility. If you can get it open in one of those, it'll rasterize it and then you can save it again as a Photoshop PDF and try OCR once again. If that doesn't work, you may have reached the limits of this workflow.

Hm. That might be the limit of the software then - sometimes it's just not possible. Maybe Reid or others have some other suggestions? In the meantime, if you have a sample that you could email me (just use the link next to one of my posts), I could see what's possible on this end, for what it's worth.
