Can recipient save partial commenting, finish later & email back?

I emailed a PDF for review and commenting. The recipient says twice she went through commenting, saved, and each time she went back to do further review before emailing the PDF back to me, her previous commenting was completely gone. Can recipients "Save" with Reader? Is is necessary that they complete all commenting in one session... can't they do some now and some later? Then email when it's complete?

This is my first experience with review and commenting. I'm on a Mac using Acrobat Professional 7 and the receiver is on a PC using some version of Reader.

Thanks for any guidance,
JosieCA

I'm not sure in version 7, but with Acrobat 8 Pro there is a "Shared Review" feature which saves a copy of the active PDF that can be e-mailed out (or posted on a web server, etc.) This file will have a slightly modified filename (can't remember if adds "review" or "post_000" or something like that to the end of the filename), but allows Adobe Reader users to use the commenting tools and also SAVE their commenting work and send it later.

Actually, I think the best method is the Shared Review option in Acrobat 8 using a WebDAV server to store the comments. This way, the user of Adobe Reader 8 can download all the comments from other users, and post their own comments at anytime. It makes for a more interactive commenting system when you have multiple people needing to review a document.

As far as setting up a simple webDAV server, checkout CRUSHftp (crushftp.com) which has Macintosh, Windows, and Linux versions.

Good luck

You can Reader-enable the PDF so others can review and save the document with Acrobat Pro. 7. Just make sure this is set during the "Send for email for Review" process. I believe it is within the second step of this process that there is a button that says "Customize Review Options". Make sure the check box for "Also Allow Users of Free Adobe Reader 7.0 or later to participate in this review".
