"Commenting Not Allowed"

I created a shared review PDF and enabled comments and markups in reader. Some people were able to comment, but some were not allowed. The Acrobat Reader version that all are using is Reader 8.0! The people that could not comment had the "Commenting: Not Allowed", but when I checked the PDF I created (the one they tried to comment), commenting "was allowed".

There was even one user that received an error stating that rights are no longer valid.

I hope someone out there can help!

Thanks

Sounds like the file may have been resaved and thus the Reader-enabling disabled. Try Reader-enabling the PDF again.

Thank for your reply, but the PDF was set up at a central location and an email was sent out informing each individual of the link to the PDF.

Some people may have added their comments before some and saved it, but as far as i know, no one had resaved it.

Do you have any other ideas?

Something to check -
It sounds as if the PDF is out on a network share.
If so, are *all* the users your end-users provided with write access to the share?
Read - file scan permissions will let access/open/view a file.
To park comments I suspect write permissions would also be required.

If you check out a file from a shared network address and you add comments, how do you get the file to retain the comments if you cannot save it?
