Dynamic stamp help

I understand how to create dynamic stamps in Acrobat 8, but I'm getting stuck with the JavaScript. I don't really know any Java, but I need to create a stamp that says "PAID" and underneath, allows the user to enter a check number, and have the date automatically filled. How can something like this be done? Thanks!
